Adding Data to a Transaction Class
Questions can be added to a Transaction Class to populate the class with profile data.
-
Open the Super User menu and click Transaction Classes.
-
Click the class to be updated:
-
In the Update window, click the Add Question button to begin populating the Transaction Class:
-
In the Edit Header window, enter text for the Question that identifies the data contained under the header:
-
For example, enter Hair Colour for a field that contains information relating to the person’s hair colour or Membership Start for a record containing the date the person registered for membership of a club:
-
The tickboxes within the Editor column set the availability of the question to analysis:
-
Visible to Campaign – a checked box makes the data available for selections in the Campaign Manager
-
Visible to Query – a checked box makes the data available for selections in the Query Manager
-
Updatable by Query – a checked box allows the data to be set/amended by query
-
-
In the Data column, select the type of data that can be entered as an answer to the question, e.g. hair colour would be defined as a string, membership start would be entered as a date, etc.
-
The data can also be flagged as PII, activating Unify's privacy settings to protect the data when the tickbox is checked.
-
If a Custom Icon is available, this can be selected in the Appearance column using the Custom Icon field:
-
The Answer Type can be set as a Database Lookup or as a Text option.
-
If checked, the Multiple Answers tickbox allows more than one answer to be selected.
-
If set to ‘Read-Only’ Display, the value cannot be changed through the UI.
-
Upon selecting the options that apply, click Add to create the question:
-
To edit the answers (i.e. create a database lookup), click on the blue silo icon to the right of the question.
-
On the Edit Profile Answers window, add the possible answers for the dropdown:
-
Answers can be entered one at a time, clicking Add after entering each one into the text box, or in bulk, by clicking Bulk Add.
-
Close the window after adding all permissible answers.
-
Repeat the process to add additional questions associated with the Transaction Class.
Importing and Exporting Transaction Data
When you need to copy data from one Unify instance and replicate it in another, use the Exporting and Importing Transaction Classes features on the Transaction Classes page. This eliminates the need to build a new Transaction Class in the second instance.
Exporting Transaction Classes
-
Open the Super User menu and click Transaction Classes.
-
To export Transaction Classes, click Export in the window's toolbar:
-
On the Transaction Class Export window, select the Transaction Classes to export.
-
Click Export Selected to download an XML document of the selected data.
-
Alternatively, if all Transaction Classes are to be exported, click Export All in the toolbar.
Importing Transaction Classes
-
Open the Super User menu and click Transaction Classes.
-
To import Transaction Classes, click Import in the window's toolbar:
-
Use the Select button on the Transaction Class Import window to open a file selection window and browse for an XML file created by exporting Transaction Classes from Unify.
-
With the file selected, click the Import button to import the data into the instance of Unify.
-
Imported data will appear in the Transaction Classes Table and can be edited in the same way as native Transaction Classes.
